The Flushing Christian Outreach Center is an inter-denominational organization made up of a team of dedicated and passionate volunteers from the Flushing, Michigan area, reaching out with God’s love to help meet the physical, spiritual and emotional needs of the people in our community. Our volunteers are committed to helping provide food and clothing to those in need within the Flushing community, as well as connecting them with appropriate local resources.
Our vision is to respond to the needs of the whole person with the goal of inviting them into a relationship with Jesus Christ and His church.
Our mission is to respond to the needs of the whole person: physical, spiritual and emotional by providing food, clothing and connections, local existing ministries and available resources through a centralized volunteer-based center.
In 2005, Flushing-area pastors shared a vision to provide a center for existing faith-based service ministries. About a dozen interested clergy and laypersons from the Flushing community with various backgrounds and experiences began serious conversations about putting together this ministry. A plan was developed to build a solid foundation for a lasting, efficient and effective ministry to respond to the physical, spiritual and emotional needs of people of the greater Flushing area. The existing Food Pantry Ministry from St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church and Clothes Closet Ministry from Flushing United Methodist Church were merged into one centralized location. The Flushing Christian Outreach Center opened in January 2007 through the prayers and efforts of many volunteers. Our prayer is to respond to the needs of the whole person with the goal of inviting them into a relationship with Jesus Christ and his church.
